The Council of Professional Associations of Psychologists is pleased to announce that we will be joining over 100 major health and parks partners in endorsing PaRx – Canada’s national, evidence-based nature prescription program. After launching in BC in November 2020, the PaRx program has since expanded to every province across Canada.
PaRx aims to support health professionals to prescribe increased time in nature to their patients. Connection to nature is known to provide numerous mental health benefits such as improved attention, lower stress, better mood, and overall improved emotional well-being. By providing evidence-based resources, including information handouts, PaRx aims to make prescribing time in nature easy, fun, and effective.
Additionally, PaRx seeks to reduce barriers to nature access. Through partners like Parks Canada, prescribers can prescribe one free Parks Canada Discovery Pass per month to patients to encourage outdoor activity without financial strain.
